We are going to make the wardrobe change in 6 simple steps, since when autumn approaches, the wardrobe change is mandatory and involves a considerable investment of time and space.
Now is the time to say goodbye to bikinis, beach towels and sandals. Summer clothes have to leave the closet and make room for the next season’s clothes.
To make the wardrobe change, we propose a series of steps to follow that have been explained to us from Blues pace , making it faster, more effective and more bearable.
1. Clean the closet
The first thing we have to do is empty the closet and clean its interior, perfuming it with lavender to welcome the new season. To prevent odors and moths , we can add naphthalene, cloves, cedar, orange and lemon peels or lavender bags.
2. Wash and store summer clothes or accessories in perfect condition
Clothes must be washed and protected with covers . If it is delicate garments, it is advisable to dry clean them at the dry cleaner. With reference to footwear , it is advisable to place each model in an individual box or bag, having previously cleaned them. If it is flip flops or other plastic footwear, it is convenient to clean them in the washing machine or by hand with water, soap and a brush. As for beach towels , it is advisable to wash them with little fabric softener so that they do not lose their absorption capacity. Before folding them, they must have lost all moisture so that they can be placed in a suitable plastic bag to prevent deterioration.
The swimsuits have a fabric that deserves special attention since they are exposed to the sun, suntan lotion, salt water and chlorine in swimming pools. To ensure proper conservation of the garments , first of all they must be washed by hand with warm water and a little soap without fabric softener, repeating once or twice. Then, we let them dry in the open air with the colors inside, thus preventing them from deteriorating. Once completely dry, they can be stored in a cloth or zip-lock bag, avoiding pressure from other clothes or objects.
In summer we also use hats that must be kept in good condition until the following season. To do this, use a cardboard box where the hat fits without folding, which absorbs moisture and allows air circulation. Before storing, the hat must be completely dry and clean. Otherwise, it should be dried in the open air and clean the stains with a little water by rubbing gently.
3. Store summer clothes and accessories
For storing clothes, there are several options. We can use cardboard or cloth boxes, sleeves, or zip-lock bags . Cardboard boxes protect clothing from moisture and moths, while fabric boxes allow perspiration. To combat moths you can also put a bag of lavender, cloves or cedar into the box as a repellent and, at the same time, as a perfume. Hermetically sealed bags are very useful for packing clothes that will not be used for a while, since they will take up much less space.
4. Find the best place to store clothes
To store clothes and accessories, it is important to find a suitable, safe and clean space to prevent them from spoiling or deteriorating.
5. Tidy up your closet
Once all your summer clothes and accessories have been put away, you should prepare the clothes that you will wear during the fall months to start filling the closet. It is convenient to divide it into the one you wear regularly and the one you don’t, to avoid messing it up often. Once separated, you can place it in the closet grouping it according to the type of garment (sport or work) or color.
6. Take advantage of your closet
To save space and avoid wrinkling, use all hangers in the closet of the same size. Shelves can also be added at some points, multiplying the capacity of the closet.
